![Screenshot says: "Christopher and I decided to take a little stroll across campus. . . and ended up on a bench beneath some very pretty trees on a bit of a cloudy day. Here is a little of what we discussed with each other:
Christopher lives not-too-far-away from Swarthmore, PA, but traveled across country to Pomona College. He is taking courses at Swarthmore this semester as a transfer student/”study abroad” student.
He even worked as a teacher in a 5th grade classroom in Seattle during his gap year after high school! So he knows his education stuff and what it means to be away from home!
I learned that Pomona students apparently hate their administration (must look into whether Swarthmore students feel the same way) and have an awful class registration system!
Christopher really enjoys math education, as well as anti-racist/social justice work (please correct me if I got this wrong), and he is continuing to grapple with the ways he can best follow his values as a teacher
Does this mean he must work at a private school, where there would be more freedom for teachers to teach what they want?
Christopher enjoys the time here at Swarthmore (he doesn’t even really complain about Sharples food!), but he thinks Pomona’s weather is a bit nicer
We both found out that neither of us are particularly homesick, and we discussed a bit about what it means to be “close” to one’s family
Christopher seems like both a cat and dog person. . . he would not be opposed to having them in the future [smiley face]."
Christopher is so wonderful! Wish we could keep him here at Swarthmore for longer, but really blessed to have had him for the time we did! Will definitely keep in touch [heart emoji]."](http://apiafutures.domains.swarthmore.edu/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Screen-Shot-2022-04-24-at-10.03.12-PM-1024x985.png)
